mkv wont play in w7mc but do in media player

After stuffing around trying to fix a dolby problem (which ended up being the video card driver hdmi handoff) I can't get any of my MKVs to play in mediacenter but they play ok in media player.

Using Shark007 codec ver 3.6.1 32bit
Video/sound nvidia 9400 ver 296.10
OS Windows 7 x64 fully patched
Media Browser ver 2.5.3

I have tried playing around with settings in both the h264 and mkv tabs to no avail.

The error I get is "Cannot play video - Windows Media Center cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. etc etc" I can access other formats fine from the same network mapping, all MKVs fail across multiple network maps.

My shark007 settings are just shark007 recommended to get everything else working.

Any ideas?

Copy the mkv to the local harddrive. Rightclick it and choose 'open with...'
if it plays correctly, it is a network issue, not a codec issue.

It is possibly a Library issue for which you can try to use the [Rebuild WMP Library] button on the Misc TAB

Fixed it.

I had to install the x64 bit components. Possibly the uninstall for that didn't clean it 100% or something from when it was installed before.
