are these personal files like spreadsheets , letters and other such documents?

UAC settings are accessed easily by clicking the icon at the top right of the startmenu.

Yes, I haven't done a fresh install since windows 95, yes 95, until now.

UAC is set to default.

I know that modifying user.dat would be bad. This was a clean install. My user files, spreadsheets etc. were backed up and also put in .old folders.

I have a similar system to yours, and similar files for testing.
Before you leave, please post a analyzation report for one of those 3gp files that failed to play with default settings.

I agree. At this time only 3gp is acting up.
