problem with avi thumbnails
i have win7 with latest codecs + X64tools.
when i download a new video in AVI format, there's no thumbnail. at first in "ICARUS" I saw there's no listing for "avi", so i hit deactivate, added ".avi;" at the beginning , and then activate. the thumbnail appeared. but I have to deactivate and activate the icarus thing EVERY TIME because there is no thumbnail for NEW videos I download. Something else, the 2 new avi files are now in a network driver, and they had NO thumbnail. I deactivated and activated icarus and then 1 video had a thumbnail. I repeated the process again and then the other video also had a thumbail. needles to say I want the icons to appear all the time... Thanks. |

RE: problem with avi thumbnails
Hi bizoot,
Icaros has never supported UNC paths (network directories), you have to remove ".avi" from Icaros' optional filetypes list, and let the default Microsoft handler thumbnail any files on your network drive. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 |

RE: problem with avi thumbnails
all my avi files that r already on my computer - have thumbnails now...
so there's no way 4 me 2 check id this works... OK, so I just downloaded a small avi file from a random website - to my desktop. the file had NO thumbnail! I hit F5 to refresh about 10 times. didn't help. opened icarus and pushed deactivate and activate a few times. didn't help. Only when manually adding avi to the icarus list - did the thumbnail appear (just wanted to check if the file even had a thumbnail to show). awaiting your thoughts. |

RE: problem with avi thumbnails
From what you have stated above, it sounds like avi thumbnails work when .avi is added to the optional filetypes list in Icaros,
but not when using Microsofts default handler. Since you need to thumbnail network files, try the following: Remove .avi from Icaros' optional filetypes. Merge the attached reg file to your registry, and test your files again. AviShellEx.reg (Size: 626 bytes / Downloads: 99)
