sound problem

Hello,

I seem to be having some problems with the sound on some videos. The videos run but there is no sound. Also I tried to uninstall Win8 codec pack, and that seams to fix the problem.. but this doesn't help since I can't watch the other video formats such as .mkv, .flv.
Is there some kind of bug with the codecs, that causes this problem with the sound?

I used win8 codec pack to run an analyze on one of the video files with this problem:

If this is an AVI file, disable the DMO codecs on the SWAP TAB

Yes it is an AVI. I did that but still nothing, I still have no sound. And this only happens for 3 or 4 AVI files that i have, the rest seam to be working just fine with sound and image.

On the Misc TAB is a dropbox to repair AVI files.
To use this dropbox you need to start the app without admin privileges.
Give that a try.

Nope, still no sound in the DivFix++ version. But when I use the Render option from the same Misc Tab it plays with the sound . Any idea why the sound works only if I use the render option ?

usually, choosing to disable the DMO codecs will make AVI files work exactly as they do in the renderer.

I tried the video app from the start screen, and with the
DMO codecs unchecked I can play the video with sound.. so might WMP have something to do with this ?

The "Disable Microsoft's Audio Decoder" option solved the problem, thank u very much ! so glad i can watch all the media with the codec pack once more.
