sound problems in video or TV
Hi,
I'm using an old PC (Pentium 4 with X850 ATI) running Windows 7 X32. I use Windows Media Center for Movies and TV. I installed the codecs but sound in some AVI movies didn't work. After reading a little bit on this site I found that checking the "Disable Microsoft's Audio Decoder" under the SWAP menu fixes the audio problem in these movies BUT there were no sound in the TV mode any more. So I've unchecked this feature for now to be able to watch TV... I analyzed two "problematic" movies I have right now, both are: Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Codec ID : 2000 Is there some other option to make these movies work without messing with the TV? I would really appreciate any help and of course will gladly provide any additional information. Thanks a lot! |

RE: sound problems in video or TV
On the SWAP TAB, disable the DMO codecs.

RE: sound problems in video or TV
none of the both tests helped..
The TV still works good but these videos are still have sound problem.. Do I supposed to restart the computer after each adjustment? I don't know if it important but when I said sound didn't work in the movies - it's not silent, there is a constant flickering sound (no voices or music) - like bug wings or something ... thank you again for the effort! |

RE: sound problems in video or TV
please upload a sample to mediafire.com and grab the download url so you can post it here.
If you do not have a sample sized video to share you can use the dropbox on the Misc TAB to create a sample. To use this dropbox the app must be started without admin privileges. |

RE: sound problems in video or TV
I have no problem with the posted sample.
Also on the Misc TAB is a dropbox to FIX avi files. Try running your file throught THAT dropbox. Test playback of the resulting file. |

RE: sound problems in video or TV
I've tried this file on other computer (X64 windows 7) and it does work on default codec settings...
The fixing didn't help... May be I should fresh install of the codecs... What is the best way for this? |

RE: sound problems in video or TV
choosing to disable UAC can cause weird things to occur.
This statement not only applies to my codecs, but to your entire system. Is UAC disabled? If so . . . Uninstall the codecs, set UAC to the 'Default' setting and reboot your computer. re-install the codecs - rightclick the settings application shortcut and choose, Run as Administrator UNINSTALL? there is a button on the Help TAB of the settings app There is a shortcut on the startmenu \Shark007 Codecs Use the Windows interface found in Control Panel | Programs and Features |
