what is the filetype? mp4? m4v?
If it is MP4 or M4V, go to the 64bit SWAP TAB and disable Media Foundation for MP4 / M4V files accordingly.
Doing so takes decoding away from Microsoft and allows the installed codecs (LAV) to do the decoding.

I wasn't aware that you could see mkv files from the TV.
The only setting(s) that may affect streaming MKV's is on the MKV TAB.
Try the setting for Alternate Extender support.

I have one other idea.
On the H264/5 TAB, click the [Config] button next to LAV
In the lower left, try using the TV setting (it defaults to PC)
