stuttering mkv audio after video card update

I have a Sony Vaio VG-110RC with an Asus Xonar DX soundcard, XFX Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT video Card. I am running the video/audio thru my Onkyo TX-NR809 (video thru the vga, audio thru the S/PDIF passthru). the sound card has the latest available drivers. the video card has driver release 280.26, however my mkv's have recently started pixelating after playing for a while, i would have to restart the computer to fix it. there are new video drivers available, 295.73, however, when i update, the audio starts stuttering with every mkv file. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

remove both the sound card and the graphics card and replace them with a less than $50
ATI/AMD 5450 with HDMI or
an Nvidia 430 with HDMI.
Dont forget to buy an hdmi cable to connect to your AVR

Either of these cards will carry audio/video to your avr and then connect your tv to the avr

ok, just to understand, the video card will carry the sound as well?

neither is better. you may find the ati for $10 cheaper than the nvidia.

So I bought the Sapphire Radeon HD 6450, removed the old GPU and soundcard and voila! runs and sounds like a champ, mkv's with dts-hd ma play flawlessly. Thanks again for your advice.
