upgrade to Windows 7 - Cant uninstall Vista Codec Package
On the Help TAB of the settings application choose to Modify the codec installation.
From that interface, you will see a Remove option. If UAC is turned OFF, please uninstall my software
Default UAC settings are required for my software to function properly |

RE: upgrade to Windows 7 - Cant uninstall Vista Codec Package

I think the reason many are getting confused is that when you open the settings page for the first time in a while it'll advise you to update and take you to the download page, then close down. Then Win7codecs_v257.exe explicitly tells the user to go to the control panel and uninstall the program from there (which is what you would usually expect) When I didn't see anything I thought it must be a bug or that I must have a really out of date version, so I should delete all trace of it, and then it'd unregister itself when it couldn't find the "repair" msi Turns out it didn't want to unregister, I googled and found that you're supposed to uninstall from within the settings page of the app itself. Luckily the repair msi was still in the recycle bin, I restored it, repaired, started the old settings thing up (this time it didn't take me to the update page but let me through). Then I could uninstall it as above I think the Win7codecs_v257.exe message to go Control panel>Uninstall should probably be changed, there could be some nasty accidents edit: By the way this was just a normal update from an older version, I didn't see that this thread is for people updating from Vista |
