visual quality of H264 videos playback with wmp12
Hi
I love win7codecs and use it for a long time. But recently I encountered a problem. When I set use FFDshow codec to decoding H264 (and x264 AVC) with WMP12, I found the video are blurred or soften, and the color of it is deepened. And I found some codecs is the same. But when I set Microsoft codec it's normal... Microsoft codec, normal FFDshow codec, blurred or soften MPC-HC codec, normal LAV codec, blurred or soften DivX codec, normal PwerDVD 11, normal The blurred or soften would make video loses detail. When I use the old version such as 3.2.x, wmp12 is fine with ffdshow codec. And I checked the settings of ffdshow, but it is not useful... Please see the video capture blurred or soften 1 Normal 1 blurred or soften 2 Normal 2 I want to use FFDshow codec to decoding H264... any suggestions? Thanks for reading... Hui |

I see no big differenz!
Here my Screenshots from a BD as AVC/H.264 MKV with FFDshow-, MS-, MPC-HC-, FFDshow-DXVA- and LAV-Decoder in a different order under H264. Can you say which are normal and which are blurred or soften?? Sample 1: Sample 2: PS: Could it be that you have no ATI HD5XXX graphics card or better? |

When I use ffdshow, it's like that I use Surface Blur filter in photoshop. Of course, this problem may not occur on your computer, and I did not expect you to give any substantive comments. Thank you |

FFDshow is a bit "blurred" but otherwise OK too!
Perhaps under "FFDshow Video Config" adjusted something? And you recognize in my screenshots FFDshow decoder? Edit: It would be very interested how well the FFDshow DXVA decoder is in your test? |

RE: visual quality of H264 videos playback with wmp12
I think this thread might cover my issue. I've been using v2.6.7 for a long time...I'd gotten WM7, Media Browser and Media Control to work together the way I'd wanted them to (at least most of the time) so I hadn't bothered updating until just a few days ago to v3.4.5 (I had a few .TS videos I couldn't get to play properly).
I've got everything working together the way I wanted, except the for the picture quality. Although the video seems more colorful (and a bit darker), I find the loss of detail disappointing (while watching TV in 720p i got from iTunes). I believe the colors were more natural before and the picture was definitely much sharper with v2.6.7. I tried messing with the settings (a few dozen variations between FFDshow, MPC-HC, and Microsoft) for a few hours, but still couldn't find the setting I wanted. Do I need to reinstall v2.6.7 ?...or is there a combination I'm overlooking. |

RE: visual quality of H264 videos playback with wmp12
on the SWAP TAB, disable Media Foundation - TEST
If that is not enough, disable the Microsoft Video decoder also. |

Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately it didn't work...I already had media foundation disabled...after disabling Microsoft Video Decoder, I noticed no change. |
