Hmm, seems there was a bug last night here and the forum was restored with a backup from day before.
Luckily, I subscribed to this thread and got the message containing the link for the RC3 in my mailbox.
So I was able to test it and it seems that the cut/paste bug is gone now.

Hmm... Undecided

Here is RC3 again:

Icaros 2.0 RC3 Installer: Download [New version is out]
Icaros 2.0 RC3 Portable: Download [New version is out]

Again, thanks for the report and followup, Lenmaer. ^^

Kovalchuk, I'm not sure if you saw my first reply before it was lost, but in case you didn't;
it will soon be possible to use the embedded covers in mkv.

I didn't, and thanks! Such feature would be amazing!

Icaros 2.0 RC3 works great, it can take over control of thumbnail preview of all file types.

The only problem is that is there a way to avoid complete black or white screens?

RE: About Icaros - mkr10001 - 04-19-2012 11:30 AM

Are there any advantages to using this on it's own rather than having all the codecs installed?

RE: About Icaros - Xanashi - 04-19-2012 12:22 PM

@chrislue
Thanks for the feedback.
Since Icaros extracts frames from a predetermined offset, there are bound to be times,
where it extracts a frame during a scene transition. They usually come out white or black.
I've considered several ways to resolve this, but I wish to do it without sacrificing (too much) speed.

@mkr10001
Do you mean, are there any advantages to using 2.0 over 1.3.2?
Yes, actually there are so many advantages and improvements, I would highly recommend upgrading.
2.0 is far superior.

I have never seen black or white thumbnail.
please do not make a bloated and slow icaros just for black frame examination.

Same here.
I sometimes happened when there was a big portion of black video, but for that blame the encoder who didn't trim it out.

Sorry I might have gotten the wrong end of the stick. Is this Icaros thing just the thumbnailer? i.e. not the whole codec pack? Confused
