I'm still looking in to it. The problem started after the new matroska parser was added to LAV around v0.40.

Hopefully I can find a proper solution, but for now you'll have to restart explorer and thumb an mkv as the first thing. yeah...

RE: About Icaros - Ellers - 12-03-2011

Why it does not work thumbnails with all VOB-files, and nearly all MPG?
Format : MPEG-PS (Version 2)
MPEG-PS (Version 1) OK.
Deactivate Icaros returns generate thumbnails VOB and MPG.

Sorry for my bad English.
English is not my native language.

Hi Ellers,

vob and mpg are not by default thumbnailed by Icaros.
In Shark's Codecs they may have already been added to the optional filetypes list in IcarosConfig.
If that's so, you can just deactivate Icaros, remove them from the list and then re-activate Icaros.

Usually it's better to just let the system thumbnail native filetypes.

@Paladin77
I've found the cause of the issue, but not a solution yet. Getting closer, though.

RE: About Icaros - Paladin77 - 12-03-2011

Thanks Man. I will be here to test it when its out Big Grin

Icaros is really the simplest straight forward way to get thumbnails. W/O having to tinker with codecs. Perfect with my minimalistic setup.

Thank you very much!
It really works.
I myself did not think about it.

Any progress Xanashi san? I am getting an extra issue added to this some mkvs refuse to thumbnail unless I reboot.

Unfortunately not yet, Paladin77. Luckily the bug is quite hard to reproduce, so not many will notice it.

Your new report is somewhat surprising, though. MKV is one format, I have absolutely no problem with.
Does it only affect some specific MKVs or just overall?

Btw, in these cases, restarting Explorer is usually easier than rebooting.

RE: About Icaros - Paladin77 - 12-07-2011

TV rip 480p h264 mkvs to be exact. And you are right. Restarting explorer works as well.
