i'm using 8.1 btw.
any solution..?? :/

I should have been more specific. I was testing on Win 8.1 Update 1.
Perhaps your file is simply incomplete. Your mediainfo log only shows a filesize of 123 MiB, my final file is 142 MiB.

oh sorry it was a different file I've download but get the same result anyway..
the funny thing is, if i remux it without the subtitle the thumbnail works like magic. but when i put it back in it gave me the same crash...
is it possible that the sub cause the crash..??

here is the one i keep on my computer http://www.solidfiles.com/d/1f2e62055b

Sharing my 2 cents . . .
On my test system, 64bit Windows 8.1u1,
this file does not crash and does thumb properly.

It is possible that whatever you are using for (subtitle) codecs is the cause of your issue.

RE: About Icaros - Xanashi - 05-26-2014

hervansaputra,

With the new file, I believe I've found a way reproduce the crash on 32-bit systems.
I'll be taking a closer look tomorrow.

I tested today on a pristine installation of Windows 32bit 8.1u1
The file I previously tested with caused an immediate COM SURROGATE error and it didn't thumbnail.
Oddly, no other mkv I have causes the issue.

Soon this one wont either, since I've just fixed it. ;)

I will upload a new build (+ 2.2.5 final), as soon as I've finished a couple more tests,
and prepared the releases.

RE: About Icaros - Xanashi - 05-29-2014

Here is 2.2.5 final.

There are two additional changes in this build, that wasn't included in the previous beta.

The first fixes a regression. A memory leak that was introduced with the release of 2.2.5 beta 1.
Since this leak never reached a final build, it wont be in the changelog.

The second change, fixes another minor memory leak, and that's about it.
Below is the composite changelog:

[Icaros v.2.2.5 Final]
- Added the possibility of setting a timestamp offset (Only via the registry for now)
- Fixed SSE incompatibility
- Fixed association bug on Windows 8.1 Update 1
- Fixed parsing of properties in some incomplete mkv files on Windows 8
- Fixed thumbnailing of some incomplete mkv files on Windows 8
- Fixed thumbnailing of images with invalid orientation tag
- Fixed SWF Content Type
- Fixed and improved consecutive calls to thumbnail provider (related to thirdparty file managers)
- Improved filetype registration
- IcarosConfig now displays the proper version number
- Spring cleaning of code and project files
- Many minor fixes and improvements
- Updated FFmpeg

RE: About Icaros - Xanashi - 05-29-2014

And... 2.2.6 Beta 1.

Since I've primarily been working on some of the upcoming features,
this build will mostly just consist of bug fixes and other smaller improvements.

It was supposed to include another Win8 fix, but the initial solution I had in mind,
didn't work as expected, and the workaround I had left, was far from optimal.
I'm currently looking for other possible solutions.

[Icaros v.2.2.6 Beta 1]
- Fixed crash with certain mkv files on 32-bit systems (Thanks hervansaputra)
- Many minor changes and improvements
- Improved loading of dependencies
- Improved FFmpeg build
- Updated FFmpeg
