"Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - danbruski - 01-28-2012 10:10 PM What a great product and service - thanks. I'm sure the solution to my problem(s) are in here somewhere, but I haven't stumbled upon the perfect storm yet. System: Win7, 64, i3, Gigabyte MB using onboard video and audo, WMC desired to be my primary player from the PC through a Onkyo AVR, then to a projector via HDMI, HDMI carries the audio and video to the AVR. Desired operation: All-in-one HTPC to play Bluray and DVD disks on PC, play ripped movies in multiple formats including MKV and AVCHD from video camera, Live TV via installed tuner card. Problem(s) 1. WMC did't play MKV. I installed the standard Shark then the 64 shark. 2. Often I get "Video Error. The files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly...." when trying to play live TV or ripped files. I played around with some of the fixes I read, and then some files work, but i break live TV. 3. Live TV, when it works, is "jerky" and lots of intermitent digital artifacts. Sometimes it will play like that for a bit, then i'll get the error.(signal strength is good and plasma tv directly connected to antenna works fine) 4. once i got a warning after putting in a Disney DVD that there was some copyright drm issue between pc, codec, player... 5. Sometimes, depending on the tweaking i do in the 64 codec settings, video will play, but no audio. 6. Doing a WMC speaker setup produces odd results such as the rear speakers never firing. For some reason, if I have an issue playing a DVD or ripped file, I can play them just fine via WMP (i left the default setting to the 32bit ver), yet i'll have issues with the WMC... I know that's a lot of things, i'm assuming there's linkage in there somewhere. Is there a set of settings to get the files to play well and live tv? RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - Shark007 - 01-29-2012 07:39 AM Lets deal with Live TV 1st. In the 64bit app, press [Reset All] = LiveTV and DVD playback should work properly. Please test and then come at me with 1 problem at a time. RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - danbruski - 01-29-2012 04:58 PM Ok...super thanks for your willingness to help. When I get home, i try it. I think i did this before, after uninstalling and reinstalling (i the correct order) and it "worked" but had digital artifacts/stuttering sections.... but i'll try again just as you said. WMC desired to be my primary player UAC has always been active. It pops up on me everytime I start the Setup Applications as administrator. In Control Panel I see it's set to default on the slider. I made no changes. Per your instruction, I ran the x64 Settings App as administrator. "reset all". I waited for the dialog box to go away and exited. I opened the x64 app as a "regular" user, and exited ( i read somewhere that i need to do that ever time i make a change as an admin... is that accurate?). I then opened WMC, went to live TV and the signal looked great for about 10sec, no sound though, then i got the "Video Error. The files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly...." So, I'll stop there since something isn't as expected....and await further instructions... in the meatime i'll see if you take paypal on your site for donations... RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - Shark007 - 01-29-2012 08:53 PM It is not required to open the app a 2nd time. on the Audio TAB of the 64bit Settings App, click the button to disable LAV audio test again RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - danbruski - 01-29-2012 08:58 PM (01-29-2012 08:53 PM)Shark007 Wrote: It is not required to open the app a 2nd time. Did that just now. Dialog box came up to say something about the ffd... now reinstated... Exit. Launch WMC. Go to Live TV. Video starts, audio kicks in a bit late then loops 1~2 seconds of audio over and over as video plays. After a few seconds, the same Video Error pops up. I closed WMC and reopened with no change in results. RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - Shark007 - 01-29-2012 09:03 PM there are not a lot things that can break 64bit LiveTV. What tools have you played with? (to modify codec or other tv behavior?) have you installed certain registry 'tweaks' to assist with modifying Media Center behavior? Or audio behavior? Did you fillow a guide somewhere that you can point me to revue? No registry tweaks or audio changes. I initially followed a guide : http://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/index.php/2012/01/17/my-latest-shark-007-codec-setup-x64-with-lav-filtersblack-magic/ Between then and now, I uninstalled the 64x and 32 versions of Shark007, shut down, re downloaded and re installed. Any more thoughts? I'm going to look at the windows audio settings and post that... RE: "Video Error", Live TV, MKV help - Shark007 - 01-29-2012 09:18 PM have you installed current video drivers from the chipset manufacturer such as AMD, Nvidia or Intel? How about updated Directx Components? |
