Alright, I am stupid. MKV problem again :( - akmv2 - 05-11-2012 12:27 AM

Hi Shark,

Many months ago I came here asking for help regarding MKVs not being able to play: http://shark007.net/forum/Thread-Still-having-problems-with-playing-MKV-files?highlight=akmv2

Then you helped to solve the problem, and I was using version 3.2.4 and everything was very well.

Then earlier this week (or was it last week) I decided to update to 3.6.1, and MKV failed to play again! Trying to play a MKV file gives this:
Full uninstallation was performed prior to re-installing with 3.6.1. Then I tried 3.6.2, no good. Then I did a clean uninstallation and switched back to 3.2.4, and STILL no good.

I guess I tried to "fix" something that wasn't broken and instead broke this again. Would you have any idea what could've caused this?

Thanks!

use the [x] SUGGESTED settings checkbox at the bottom of the settings application.

my next suggestion . . .

on the Misc TAB, use the button to [Rebuild WMP Library]

on the Misc TAB, use the button, [Analyze a media file], on the failing file
copy/paste that information here

0.0 this is all it came up with

General
Complete name : C:\VideoOutput\to reupload\KBS 2 HT.mkv
Format : RAR
Format/Info : From Rarlabs
File size : 786 MiB

EDIT: RAR....??

UPDATE:

OK.. that RAR thing looked weird so I went and found another MKV video to test, and it plays fine 0.0

Sorry about that, must be that particular file that's corrupted.

I think I'm going to stick with 3.2.4 though....

Thanks for your time!

RAR is a compression format similar to ZIP.
you may just need to 'extract' the video from the RAR archive.

It was already extracted and I think it's an extraction issue. I re-downloaded the RAR and it works fine now Smile
