AVI video - screen tearing, video hangs after a few seconds - Haisook - 05-26-2012 05:04 AM

All my AVI files work perfectly, except one which just hangs after a few seconds, and shows excessive tearing, making the video non-viewable.

Here's the file details from Gspot:

Code:
File Name : Marebito.2004.DVDRip.XviD-PROMiSE_new.avi
File Size : 700 Mb.

[Movie]
Valid : Yes [AVI]
Duration : 01:31:42
Movie complete : Yes

Resolution : 576x320
Codec : XviD MPEG-4 codec
FPS : 23.98
BitRate : 936 Kbps
Quality Factor : 0.22 b/px
Subs:  Hardcoded English

[Audio]
Codec : MPEG 1 or 2 Audio Layer 3 (MP3)
Number of channels : 2
Sample Rate : 48000 Hz
BitRate : 131 Kbps

Anything I can do about it?

Using Win7 x64.

Thanks.

Hi Haisook,

if it is only one AVI file, it is probably corrupted/badly encoded.
I do not see anything unusual about the file. But try changing the AVI splitter in the Shark setting application (AVIˇRM tab).

If it does not help, try remuxing it to a .mkv file with Metafox (Shark´s tool page). Easy drag-n-drop the avi into the app.
