I'm having this persistent problem when playing MKV files with embedded subs.

Even though I have subs disabled, whenever they are embeded in an MKV file my CPU usage max's out (I'm assuming the video accelerator is being disabled) and I get jerky playback.

The only work around I have found is to demux the MKV file and remove the subtitle component, and the file plays perfectly with low cpu usage.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Does WinDVD (Corel) works when Win7Codec Pack is installed? Does install any codec and has impact on my computer codecs installation?

in fact I'm asking does WinDVD install codecs or use internal plugins to play DVDs?

I'm using Windows 7 32bits and I installed Win7codecs today: Fantastic !
The only problem left is that I can't see the subtitles with some of of my avi files in media center. I tried different settings without success. However, since I am using Win7codecs it is ok with WMP (just with "Shark007 SUGGESTED settings"). In the same folder there are the avi file, one srt file and one sub file (I don't remenber why!) and the names are exactly the sames.
I don't know what to do :-(

Okay, after re-installing x64 components I still had problems. Checked Shark007 suggested settings and still had problems. Unchecked it and realized that all my settings got reset to defaults. The blockiness is fixed if I set 64 bit player as default. Problem solved. Thanks.

I have enabled ffdshow in live tv/recorded tv, would love the ability to try it for my mp3 music collection. I am unable to locate the "Swap Tab" you mention here.
