Hello,

I'm running into a problem trying to encode some video I filmed off my camera, and I am getting quite frustrated trying to troubleshoot this.

I have a MOV off my camera, I believe recorded as h264.
It is huge, though, so I had wanted to load it into MeGUI and re-encode it using the 10-bit x264 encoder to compress it somewhat into an h264 MKV.

The problem is that it keeps failing with "error 3."
I tried various combinations, but I noticed that towards the beginning of the log, there are a few warnings listed, and they state that the Haali Matroska Splitter is not installed properly, and the Haali DSS2 is not installed.
However, I thought that the Win7codec pack (I run Win7 x64) included the Haali splitters? The program recommends me downloading and installing them manually, but I don't want to go with an unnecessary extra installation if the Win7codecs already includes it.

Is there anything that I am missing?

Thank you.

Edit:
Forgot to mention, I am also using Win7codecs v4.1.0.
For the most part everything works, but there are a handful of odd videos where MPC-HC refuses to play them without crashing, but VLC loads them just fine.

Firstly, huge fan of this this codec pack, been recommending it for years to people.

I've run into a problem with a utility to run logitech mouse's (Setpoint). Their tech support says that a codec (k-lite) is causing issues and must be uninstalled.

Question is k-lite part of the shark007 codec pack, and if so can it be removed, disabled & substituted.

Frustrating, I'd rather have fully functioning video playback than being able to customise my mouse... hopefully I can have both!

Hello everyone,
I wonder if there's any article on the optimal installation/codec application settings on Windows XP (SP3).
During the installation, there's some mentioning about ffdshow, I have no idea what it is/what needed for, so I leave all blank.
Also, after the installation is done, in the settings application, there's nothing like "recommended settings" or something like this.
I am not very good at codecs settings, so I hope there is a manual/readme/ etc. on this matter somewhere. Would you please let me know where I can see it?
Also, I am using SMPlayer (with mplayer). I wonder what settings would be best for that, too. If anyone has ideas on it.
Why I am posting all this is because the video is not playing perfectly (some mp4, mkv and especially wmv files). Sometimes video is not smooth, and sometimes the skip function doesn't work ok. The PC I have supposed to be all right for any video including HD (Core Duo 8400, 2gb RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4800). But sometimes the playback is not as good as expected. Wonder if this is a matter of Vistacodecs/SMPlayer settings.
Thanks!!!

My system is in my sig and I'm using recommended settings and setup LAV codec in H.264 settings to rely on CUVID. Otherwise all settings are to recommended.
Is there a reason why the subtitles are causing occasional stutter and slowdowns of video playback? Well, all I want is a fix anyway
