Was just curious as I had the older version from the official website installed and it played with "PLAYING [DXVA]" on, and I just noticed you had a newer release so I swapped to that. Not to great with what DXVA is, or if your version comes with predefined settings that are better with Win7codecs, but any insight would help!

I have codecs installed..

Under Windows media player.. when I play back an mkv file, i get three icons popping up.. the ffdshow audio, video and the splitter.

My amp turns blue to signify 5.1 audio and it all works perfectly..

Under Media Center.. I play the same file, no icons pop up and the audio is downmixed to stereo.

I have checked that I have 5.1 speakers in MC

Is MKV being played natively through MC? Can I change it to use ffdshow like media player? How do I get the 5.1 to work through MC?

Thanks for the Nice compilation of codecs. Seems pretty simple and fool proof at this point.

Just a rundown of Hardware.

AMD Ph II 965 (C3) Quad Core
Asus M4a785TDV-E-EVO
4Gb Kit of Kingston Hypers (1600Mhz cas8)
ATI 5450 1GB Vidoe Card
OB Sound Digital Optical out (SPDIF)
LG Blu-Ray Drive
Windows 7 x64 Pro

ACER 23" 1080p 60Hz Monitor (DVI) -H233H
Sammy 52" 1080P LCD w/ 120Hz Processing (HDMI)

TV plays Flawlessly Smooth with Pioneer BluRay Player (BDP-320)

I started off with PDVD8. Micro-stutter Wasn't noticed on 60hz HD monitor until COnnected HTPC to Sammy with 120Hz Processing, Then started noticing it on 60Hz Monitor.

Move to Mirillis Splash Lite (MKV's) and ArcSoft TMT3 (BD Disks) and all was smooth as butter like the Pioneer SAP but had no Digital sound.

Upgraded to Mirillis Splash Pro (SPDIF enabled and DD/DTS ran well) and TMT 3 Plat Full and both programs Started Porducing the Micro-Stuttering. I have tried Haali, FFDshow, now Shark007 and even Boxee and I can't seem to find a program to get rid of the Micro-stuttering.

Has the shark007 codecs been tested with any HD Monitor/HDTV with 120hz processing or greater?

I guarantee that if anyone of you look at the background of a scene that is scanning slowly, you will see the same micro-stuttering that I am. I don't think that it's been noticed being that most have HD Displays with 60hz.....

If the Shark007 codecs have been tested with a Setup like mine... Could I please be guided to the proper settings.

Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to ensure proper understanding of the issue at hand. Thanks in advance!

After nearly a day trying to find the answer, I became desperate. Sometimes desperation leads to positive results.

The problem:

I have a large collection of DTS Encoded Audio. Some with *wav and some *dts extensions. The *dts extensions play perfect in Windows Media Player (Windows 7) and

use the Passthrough leaving either my Logitech Z5500's or Pioneer Elite Amplifier to light up their respective DTS AUDIO decoding signal lights and play.

The dts encoded *wav files played as static, nearly white-noise-ish.

I tried literally EVERY setting and every player I could think of with EVERY addon and codec pack - NOTHING WORKED.

Enter METAFOX !
http://www.shark007.net/tools.html

Take those dts PCM *wav files, drag them over the MetaFox shortcut, as explained in Metafox's instructions and VOILA!
It will spit out PERFECT *mka files that Windows Media Player LOVES ! and plays using Passthrough out to your DTS Decoder.

I have done this to over 100 files now and NO PROBLEMS and PERFECT RESULTS !

I hope this helps people, as I would have literally KILLED for this fix earlier.

Cheers,

Hi, firstly great compile of codecs!

I've managed to achieve MKV playback using ffdshow in 7MC, but I would like to use ffdhow to play DVD's so I can utilise ffdshow's postprocessing.

However, it does not matter what setting I choose, I cannot achieve this!
I've used SWAP tab to change MPEG to ffdshow, ffdshow for MP2/3 and disable MS video decoder.
In MPG tab I've set "MPEG2 specific playback (DVD)" to use ffdshow.

But to no avail! I If I play a DVD thru 7MC no icons show on the taskbar (apart from ac3filter) so I presume ffdshow is not loading.

Can anyone help?

Both types play in WMC7 x64 fine, using CoreAVC as the decoder, but only the .mkv files seem to be using FFDShow for postprocessing..
If i rename the .mp4 to .mkv they work as they should with both the CoreAVC and FFDShow tray icons appearing

Was reading on Tom's Hardware website about this player that plays everything in one package and my question is...I have the shark 007 latest codec package installed if I install this VLC media player also will it mess anything up with the shark codecs since VLC includes it's own codecs for almost everything?

I am mainly interested in the VLC player because it will play broken media files which I sometimes run into otherwise I will still use the Windows Media Player for almost 99% of everything else.

Hi

I'm using shark codecs on my HTPC, which for the most part are working great. The main issue I am having is the ripped DVD's on the hard drive have a video stutter every now and then.

MKV's, bluray ISO's are playing fine, just not normal DVD's.

I've been using the default MPEG2 playback, changed it to FFDshow and still having same issues. I've recently upgraded my GPU to an ATi 5450.

Is there anything else I can try? The audio is fine, it's just the video.

Thanks!!
