Hey, I have just installed the latest 32 & 64 bit codecs packages. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter which codecs i enable, the .mkvs I have created using MeGui / x264 with the DXVA Hi-Def settings, I get artifacts. Previously I was using an earlier version of the shark codec packs with CoreAVC v2.0 and everything was good. Any suggestions?

Win7 64 bit, NVidia GT7300, 4Gb Ram, AMD AM2 3800+ dual core CPU.
Thanks

I have Shark007, mediabrowser and media center working nearly perfect. FFDShow is doing pass-through audio, subtitles correctly, mediabrowser as the interface, and all filetypes are playing properly except a handful of m2ts files. Most m2ts files are working properly. A few - mostly ones I've ripped recently - give the following error.

"Cannot Play Video
Windows Media Center cannot find the specified file. Be sure the path is typed correctly. If it is, the file does not exist at the specified location, or the computer where the file is stored is offline"

I'm wondering where to start troubleshooting. I'm using DVDFab to rip blurays to 9GB 1080p. I then copy the m2ts file to my directory for mediabrowser to find. I can play the m2ts files with other players, but really would prefer to stick with mediabrowser native player interface.

In Shark007 I have FFDShow DXVA enabled for WVC1 on SWAP, Disable Microsoft video decoder, Disable Windows Media Foundation, and use FFDShow for mp2/3 and all three left side boxes of SWAP. MPG~MP4 has Gabest's blu-ray splitter, and FFDShow for MPEG2.

Any other settings to try? Is this a Shark config thing or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks for your time!

I am sorry if I asked the usual questions.
I searched the forum in regards of my problems, but can't seem to understand what to do about it.
Could you please be kindly enough to explain it one more time to me?
I have been using the Shark Codec for a while now, and I do agree that this is the most compact and fully functioning Codec I've ever come across to.
The only problem I'm having is that when I play MKV files in WMP, the subtitles just won't show.

Hi! I am trying to play MKV using the following:

Old 2.7Ghz windows 7 32 bit laptop
Xbox 360
TV

I previously managed to play all kinds of videos (avi, MKV mostly) using WIndows Media Center using many different codecs.

I had some pc problems and needed to do a fresh install but unfortunately I forgot what codecs and settings I used before. I installed Shark 007 codecs and tested a bunch of videos. Here is what I found:

All videos play in WMP.
Only AVI play in WMC ( when MKV, it says I do not have the proper codecs installed).

I can see the thumbnails on my xbox but can only play one MKV, the other one starts, stutters and after 2-3 frames jut freezes.

I tried different shark settings all under administrator rights: recommended with or without DivX codecs, default with or without Divx. Everytime, I uninstalled and restarted.
I found that with default shark codecs only and some tweaks, I can play a file. I use the H264 ffdshow video codec, unchecked disable AC3 filter and use passthrough for AC3 and DTS.

While I can play some files on the extender, I still cannot play them on WMC. Could it be that my laptop lacks the horsepower?

Anyway here are the file analysis report of a MKV file I was not able to play .

I have codecs installed..
Under Windows media player.. when I play back an mkv file, i get three icons popping up.. the ffdshow audio, video and the splitter.

My amp turns blue to signify 5.1 audio and it all works perfectly..

Under Media Center.. I play the same file, no icons pop up and the audio is downmixed to stereo.

I have checked that I have 5.1 speakers in MC

Is MKV being played natively through MC? Can I change it to use ffdshow like media player? How do I get the 5.1 to work through MC?

After nearly a day trying to find the answer, I became desperate. Sometimes desperation leads to positive results.

The problem:

I have a large collection of DTS Encoded Audio. Some with *wav and some *dts extensions. The *dts extensions play perfect in Windows Media Player (Windows 7) and

use the Passthrough leaving either my Logitech Z5500's or Pioneer Elite Amplifier to light up their respective DTS AUDIO decoding signal lights and play.

The dts encoded *wav files played as static, nearly white-noise-ish.

I tried literally EVERY setting and every player I could think of with EVERY addon and codec pack - NOTHING WORKED.

Enter METAFOX !
http://www.shark007.net/tools.html

Take those dts PCM *wav files, drag them over the MetaFox shortcut, as explained in Metafox's instructions and VOILA!
It will spit out PERFECT *mka files that Windows Media Player LOVES ! and plays using Passthrough out to your DTS Decoder.

I have done this to over 100 files now and NO PROBLEMS and PERFECT RESULTS !

I hope this helps people, as I would have literally KILLED for this fix earlier.

Cheers,
The dts encoded *wav files played as static, nearly white-noise-ish.

Cheers,

I just tried to go and uninstall version 2.6.1 and the settings application won't open. I keep getting an error message that it needs to be in a tools folder or something. The program isn't even showing up in Add or Remove Programs. I tried manually running the program from its Tools folder and get the same message. I can't install version 2.6.2 because it sees the previous version. How do I get 2.6.1 off? I can't find anywhere to re-download it and try to repair the install.

Hi, firstly great compile of codecs!

I've managed to achieve MKV playback using ffdshow in 7MC, but I would like to use ffdhow to play DVD's so I can utilise ffdshow's postprocessing.

However, it does not matter what setting I choose, I cannot achieve this!
I've used SWAP tab to change MPEG to ffdshow, ffdshow for MP2/3 and disable MS video decoder.
In MPG tab I've set "MPEG2 specific playback (DVD)" to use ffdshow.

But to no avail! I If I play a DVD thru 7MC no icons show on the taskbar (apart from ac3filter) so I presume ffdshow is not loading.

Can anyone help?

Was reading on Tom's Hardware website about this player that plays everything in one package and my question is...I have the shark 007 latest codec package installed if I install this VLC media player also will it mess anything up with the shark codecs since VLC includes it's own codecs for almost everything?

I am mainly interested in the VLC player because it will play broken media files which I sometimes run into otherwise I will still use the Windows Media Player for almost 99% of everything else.
