Is there a way using WMP legacy w subs and media Player app interchangeably

#1
Question
Hi,

Is there a way to use WMP legacy and Media Player app at the same time.
eg. set Shark007 to play .mkv, mp4 etc.. files on WMP legacy with subtitles without breaking Media Player app.

I want to use WMP legacy for subtitled movies and Media Player app for listening music.

I try some options as I think if WMP legacy using Directshow codecs ans Media Player app uses media foundation should be a way to use them seperately not breaking eachother.

As if I disable media foundation it breaks Media Player app, if not then WMP legacy doen't show the subtitles.

Thank you

I am unaware of the existence of a Media Foundation subtitle codec.
Media Foundation must be broken to force WMP to use Directshow.

Maybe I cannot clear myself.

Most of my movies .mkv and .srt subs.
I was searching the forum to find a solution and I came accross your explanations on 4K movies section of the forum saying:

''WMP Legacy and the Media Player App are 100% different software's and share exactly zero code between them.
My codec software supports WMP because it can use Directshow codecs but the Media Player App uses Media Foundation Codecs.
To use the Media Player App, the checkbox for [] WMP settings needs to be unchecked.

So, if they are not sharing anything that should be worked.
If I checked ''Disable Media Foundation for .mkv/.mp4'', WMP legacy shows subtitles but then Media Player app broken We couldn't opem ....(error code: 0x800700EA)

When I unchecked  ''Disable Media Foundation for .mkv/.mp4'', Medi Player app works but then WMP Legacy didn't show the subtitles.
(Disable Microsoft's Audio Decoding and Video decoding unchecked - because disabling any of this breaks Media Player app anyway)

Thank you

The Media Player App only uses Media Foundation.
WMP can use either, Media Foundation or DirectShow.
My codecs are DirectShow and contain a DirectShow subtitle codec.

WMP is designed to prefer Media Foundation
so that must be disabled to get it to fallback to using DirectShow.
