Hi, i cant get any of the audio tracks on some mkvs and even original bluray to play/output anything but PCM. i tried most settings and nothing get it to output dts or dd etc. LAV status tab shows correct codec etc under Input but output is always pcm no matter what stream is playing.

example file's details attached if that helps.

is there something i am missing ?

With the file playing, or paused,
right click the white LAV splitter tray icon and select your preferred track.

A permanent solution?
Notice in the attachment, the PCM track is set as the 'Default' track
Use mkvtoolnix to set the 'Default'  audio track to one that you prefer.

I have tried all tracks, they all just output as PCM. I even removed all tracks but one (DTS) and still only PCM. Even in the LAV settings you can see the output and it says PCM with the stream being DTS, DD etc. (see attached pics) Is there anything in the codec for this file thats out of the ordinary ?

7.1 Receiver with DTS HD/ ATMOS etc. Other DD5.1, DTS, DTS HD etc work its just some files so i suspect its to do with the codec of the file but its strange its picked up as DTS but outputs PCM.

So, can I assume that you are using a HDMI cable directly from the video card to the AVR?
Nothing connected in between these 2 items?

Have you installed drivers from the video card manufacturer and not the PC manufacturer?

yes and yes, latest drivers and same issue on new win 11 pc as win media center pc

Get Metafox from my tools page and install it.
Drag n drop a problematic file onto the Metafox desktop shortcut.
Metafox will create a new MKV using the contents of the original file.
Test that new file.

Thanks for the recommendation I gave it a try but same result. I found i have the same issue if i play the original Blu-ray on my PC. I will dig out my PS3 and see if it plays correctly on that.
