Hi Xanashi

First, thank you for this amazing piece of software.
I want to report that Icaros doesn't show thumbnails of animated WebP files. it show a thumbnails of still non-animated WebP files but not the animated ones.
WebP support both still images and animated images.

Hi Jmed23,

Thank you so much for the kind words! ^__^
I am aware, and I'm hoping support for animated WebP files will eventually be added to FFmpeg
by one of the many amazing FFmpeg contributors.
There is a ticket here where you can follow the progress.

I am facing the same problem and I really need animated webp thumbnails.
Is there any other way to make it happen? To achieve this?
I tried many things, like; WebpCodecSetup installed, K-Lite codec pack full installed, Icaros installed but none helped.
I created also question on superuser about this

Hi Pakiec22,

Unfortunately I am not aware of any way to add support for animated Webp files in Windows, at this point in time.
I know there is a Webp WIC codec, but reading the code, it does not seem to support animated files. I haven't tested it though.
You can find it here: https://github.com/webmproject/webp-wic-codec

Support in Icaros currently relies on support for animated Webp in FFmpeg.
You can follow the progress here.

I noticed a similar bug with transparency in webm files. It looks like the default decoder does not support transparency but libvpx does.
https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/5792

The argument: ffplay -vcodec libvpx-vp9 clip.webm, worked just fine for me.

Thanks for reporting. I'll make sure to look into this.
Please note that I try to avoid adding additional third-party libraries to Icaros, just to support minor features,
so hopefully I can find another solution.
